A two-day Humanitarian Reporting Workshop for Journalists was held on 27 and 28 November 2025 at Avari Hotel Lahore, bringing together journalists from different media platforms to learn responsible and ethical reporting during crises and conflict situations. The initiative was organized by Media Unlimited in collaboration with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC).
The training focused on International Humanitarian Law, core humanitarian principles, ethical reporting, safety of journalists, digital security, and ways to amplify the voices of affected communities in the media. Trainers Kamal Siddiqi and Shahzeb Ahmed led the sessions, sharing practical tools and editorial guidelines for reporting sensitive humanitarian issues with accuracy and empathy.
Participants were encouraged to highlight long-term impacts of crises rather than just immediate losses, and to understand the role of humanitarian organizations including the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement.
At the end of the workshop, certificates were awarded to all participants. Jamal Khan, Deputy Head of ICRC Pakistan, attended the ceremony as the chief guest and appreciated the role of responsible journalism in society.
The workshop was described by journalists as an important step towards improving humanitarian coverage in Pakistan’s media landscape.
