On 27th November 2025, UNDP hosted a consultation session in Lahore to address the issue of hate speeches and incitement to violence, focusing on Punjab’s commitment to address these issues. Stakeholders, including government officials, civil society, and academia, discussed strategies to tackle both online and offline hate speech, particularly against religious minorities and women.

In the day long discussions, the key notes speakers included Ms. Sonia Asher, Parliamentary Secretary for Human Rights & Minorities Affairs, Mr. Farid Ahmad Tarar, Secretary Human Rights & Minorities Affairs, Government of Punjab and Ms. Sadia Bangish UNDP Project Team Lead. The speakers highlighted the need for collective action, digital responsibility, and gender-sensitive approaches. The consultation aimed to develop practical, scalable solutions to strengthen social cohesion and protect vulnerable groups, with UNDP supporting the Government of Punjab in implementing these strategies.
