A grand and spiritually uplifting Christmas celebration was held at the Heaven Gospel Assembly Church in Quetta, attended by notable figures including Parliamentary Secretary for Transport, Mir Liaquat Ali Lehri, National Party’s Provincial Women Secretary and Member of the Provincial Assembly, Kulsoom Niaz Baloch, Secretary for Minority Affairs, Syed Noman Shah, and National Party’s Provincial Secretary for Human Rights, Anil Ghori.
In their addresses, the special guests extended heartfelt Christmas greetings to the Christian community, acknowledging the invaluable sacrifices made by Christians for the development, stability, and welfare of Pakistan, particularly Balochistan. They emphasized that the Christian community is a vital, dignified, and proud part of society, whose contributions can never be forgotten.
Mir Liaquat Ali Lehri stated that Pakistan is a shared homeland for people of all faiths, where every citizen enjoys equal rights as per the constitution. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to protecting minority rights, promoting religious freedom, and fostering mutual harmony.
MPA Kulsoom Niaz Baloch highlighted that Christmas conveys a message of love, peace, tolerance, and humanity, which is much needed today. She stressed that empowering women, minorities, and vulnerable groups is the foundation of a strong and peaceful society.
Secretary for Minority Affairs, Syed Noman Shah, said the provincial government is taking serious steps to address the issues of the minority community, providing education, health, and other basic facilities. He assured protection of their religious festivals and places of worship.
Anil Ghori, Provincial Secretary for Human Rights/Minority Forum Pakistan and Balochistan President, emphasized that respecting all religions and nationalities and sharing each other’s joys and sorrows is a human rights imperative. He said Christmas teaches us that love, brotherhood, and peace are the values that unite and strengthen societies.
The speakers concluded with a commitment to further promote interfaith harmony, tolerance, and mutual respect in Balochistan, aiming to build a peaceful, prosperous, and united society.
