A three-day Capacity Building workshop on Ethical Journalism and Digital Security concluded at Lahore, with participants gaining valuable insights and skills on modern journalism.
The workshop, which began on December 3,2025 to December 5,2025, covered a range of topics, including the fundamentals of journalism,digital content creation,social media training,mobile journalism and digital security.Renowned facilitators Mr. Mubasher Bukhari, Mr. Shair Ali Khalti, and Umaima Ahmed led the sessions, emphasizing the importance of truth, accuracy, and independence in journalism.
The workshop highlighted the four universal pillars of ethical journalism: Truth & Accuracy, Independence, Fairness & Impartiality, and Humanity/Minimise Harm. Participants were advised to verify information from at least two independent sources, avoid bribes and “lifafa” journalism, and respect individuals’ privacy.
The second day focused on digital content creation and social media training, covering mobile journalism, AI tools, storytelling, filming, and editing. The importance of investing in the right equipment, understanding the audience, and leveraging AI tools and technology to enhance reporting and storytelling was emphasized.
The final day covered mobile journalism, Cyber Harassment Helpline, gender vs sex, and digital security. Participants were advised on protecting personal information from phishing, malware, and other cyber attacks, and the importance of respecting individuals’ preferred pronouns and promoting inclusive and ethical visualization.
The workshop aimed to equip journalists with the skills and knowledge necessary to practice ethical journalism, report on gender issues, and ensure digital security in a responsible and ethical manner.
