In a disturbing incident that underscores the vulnerabilities of children in our society, 6-year-old Shamia Saleem became a victim of sexual assault on December 10, 2025, at a tuition center in Chak no 237 JB, Jaranwala, Faisalabad. The perpetrator, 19-year-old Uzair Dogar, exploited a space meant for learning, leaving Shamia and her family shattered.
Shamia’s ordeal began when she didn’t return home after attending a 2:00 pm tuition class at Al-Sufa School System. Her mother’s desperate search led her to the school around 4-5 pm, where she found her daughter in tears. The family swiftly took action, filing an FIR that resulted in the accused’s arrest. But the battle for justice is far from over.
The family, though grateful for the police’s initial cooperation, is now facing intense pressure from the accused’s family to compromise and withdraw the case. Yet, Saleem Masih, Shamia’s father, and his family remain steadfast in their demand for justice.
Mr. Yousaf Adnan of the Peace and Development Foundation visited the family, offering unwavering support. He met with Shamia’s uncles, grandmother Aunty Razia, and parents, assuring them of the foundation’s legal, emotional, and spiritual backing. The Parish Priest of Jaranwala, Rev. Father Yaqoob Yousaf, also joined efforts, amplifying the community’s solidarity.
This case is a stark reminder of the urgent need to protect our children and stand with survivors of sexual violence. The Peace and Development Foundation’s intervention is a beacon of hope, but it also calls on all of us to act. We must ensure no child suffers in silence and no perpetrator walks free. Justice for Shamia is a plea for justice for all.
